Once you have a Stripe account associated with your Roster Athletics account, Stripe may reach out to you to verify certain information. This could involve missing identification for a person on your account, or a verification document for your club/school/organisation/company.
You'll most likely receive information directly from Stripe.
We know this is additional work for you, but Stripe (and other financial institutions) has increased compliance requirements due to tightened KYC (Know Your Customer) laws.
It's crucial to respond as soon as possible, since Stripe will suspend your account if the missing information isn't provided. Stripe can reopen a suspended account, but while suspended, no one will be able to sign up and pay for participation in any of your competitions.
Verification requirements depend on where your organisation is based.
As an example, Stripe requires the following acceptable forms of legal entity verification in the UK:
- VAT Registration
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Companies House Document
- HM Revenue and Customs: VAT Certificate
- HM Revenue and Customs: Account Statement
- Charity Commission Document
- OSCR Scottish Charity Regulator
Some clubs don't have any of the above acceptable forms of legal verification, since they're non-profits and not incorporated or VAT registered. In these situations, clubs have successfully submitted a bank statement indicating the club name and address (the name and address must match those on the Stripe dashboard and on the statement). The processing time may be longer than if a standard document is submitted.
