The Roster Athletics consumer app is the main interface for fans, athletes, and coaches to engage with a competition. It allows you to follow competitions, view start lists and results, check in, and engage with the competition feed.
The app works in conjunction with Roster's cloud platform. If you are an organiser, the extensive user guides on the Roster Athletics support site cover how to control each app feature for your competition, from start lists and event setup to real-time results via a Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) system or the Roster Meet Mgmt app.
This guide covers the following sections:
- Downloading the app
- Using the app for the first time
- Log in or sign up
- Finding your competitions
- In the competition
- General app features and settings
Downloading the app
The Roster Athletics app is available on the iOS App Store for Apple iPhone and iPad devices, and on Google Play for Android devices.
The app currently supports the following languages based on your device's location settings:
- Danish
- French
- German
- Korean
- Lithuanian
- Polish
- Spanish
- Swedish
- UK English
- US English
In addition to the main Roster Athletics app, there is a second app — the Roster Athletics Meet Mgmt app — designed for organisers to enter live field results. See the Meet Mgmt user guides for more information.
Using the app for the first time
When using the app for the first time after downloading or reinstalling, you can use it as a non-logged-in user. Using the app without logging in has limitations: the global News feed and competition Feed are read-only, and you cannot add competitions to a Followed list, play the Roster fantasy game, or use the Athlete check-in function.
Log in or sign up
To access all of the app's features, you must log in or sign up. To do so, tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner. You will see the Log in or sign up link at the top of the menu. Tap it to go to the Log in or Sign up view.

Finding your competitions
The app starts on the Competitions page, where you will find all competitions added to the Roster Athletics platform. There are three ways to find competitions on this page.
Featured competitions
Featured competitions are displayed by default. These are typically the largest upcoming competitions from around the world available in the Roster app.

My competitions
The MY COMPETITIONS tab (available to logged-in users only) shows competitions you are following. You can add any competition to the list by opening it and tapping the FOLLOW COMPETITION button on the main DETAILS page.
Competitions for which you have registered yourself or on behalf of another participant via the registration portal at https://meets.rosterathletics.com/ will automatically appear here.
To remove a competition from your followed list, open the competition and, in the DETAILS tab, tap the three dots menu in the upper right corner and select Unfollow competition.
Searching for competitions
To search for competitions, go to the FEATURED tab. Type in the search box to find a competition by name or by the city where it takes place. Search results include both upcoming and past competitions. Follow any competition you are interested in for easy access later.

Search filters can be set using the filter icon at the right edge of the search box. Filters include Country and Date of competition. Filters remain in effect until you change or remove them, or tap the Clear filters button at the bottom of the Filter competitions screen.

In the competition
Schedule
Once you open a competition, you will be on the main DETAILS page. You can tap FOLLOW COMPETITION from here if you are logged in. This page contains the full event list and schedule for the competition, sorted by time and scrollable. Once the organiser publishes the start lists, you will be able to see the competing athletes in each event.

All heats and preliminary rounds, when applicable, are shown in the list view alongside the finals. When multiple heats or age groups are taking place, a Summary event will be listed to view the aggregated results for that round.
When an event is in progress, you will see a LIVE sign above it with a yellow background. If at least one event is in progress, the entire competition header will turn yellow, and the LIVE link next to the competition name will scroll the schedule to the most recent live event when tapped.
Once an event is completed and results are available, you will see a checkmark next to the event and a white background.
There are two main ways to customise your viewing experience:
- Search for an event, club or athlete — type in the search box to find an athlete by name (along with all their events and start times), a club (to find all participants from that club), or an event by name, gender, or stage.
- Filters events — when viewing the DETAILS tab, tap the filter icon at the right edge of the search box. Filters include Status, Gender, Events, Event stage, Age group, and Day of competition. You can also filter by event category (Sprint, Distance, Jump, etc.). Filters apply to the current competition only and remain in effect until you change or remove them, or tap Clear filters. A white filter icon indicates no filters are active; a blue icon indicates a filter has been applied.

Start lists and results
Tapping an event opens the start list, results, and records (if added by the organiser) for that event.

You can sort start lists and results by tapping the three-line icon in the upper right corner and selecting:
- Place (default for Results)
- Lanes/Order (default for Start lists)
- Season best
- Personal best
- Qualifying result
- BIB number
You can switch between Short view (place, athlete name, and result only) and Full view (all available details) by tapping the three dots icon. This can also be set globally in Settings.

You can navigate between groups and stages within the same event, go to different child events within the same combined event, and see specific gender or age group lists using the navigation bar below the search field.
Information displayed in the full view includes (when available):
Start list:
- Athlete or relay name, picture, country, para classes
- PB, SB, QR, qR (results from the previous round)
- Club, school or team name
- BIB number
- Age group (if multiple age group event)
- Gender (if mixed event)
- Lane or order
- Group or heat number (if it is a summary)
- Out-of-competition status and notes added by the organiser
- Qualification rules
- Check-in status (if enabled by the organiser)
Results:
- All information listed above for start lists, except the check-in status
- Place
- Place in a group or heat (if it is a summary)
- Result
- Result NET
- Time on the last timing point (when there is no final result yet)
- Points (if it is a combined event)
- NM/DNF/DQ (with a rule number)/DNS/SCR status
- Wind
- Reaction time
- Record abbreviation (for example, PB, SB, MR, WR, WB or WL)
- Q/q/qR/qJ/qD status
When viewing Q/q statuses, dynamic q's are shown with a yellow background and finalised q's in black. The yellow dynamic q's indicate the currently placed qualifiers in real time and can change as new results come in. Once the event is completed, all qualifiers are listed with black Q/q's.
Athlete profile
Tapping an athlete's name on the start list or results opens their profile, which includes detailed information related to the event performance (DETAILS tab) and the athlete's records (PROFILE tab).

Here you will see all athletes' attempts in field events (with the best attempt highlighted in bold), detailed results for combined events, or split times for road or cross-country races.
Feed
The FEED tab is a real-time communication tool where organisers, fans, and athletes can interact. The organiser can write feed comments via the Roster web admin; these comments are then visible to everyone in the competition. Organisers can provide commentary, make announcements, highlight results, and add videos and pictures to deliver a richer audience engagement experience. Fans can also comment on the FEED and ask questions, if the organiser allows it.

To promote a healthy public conversation, we have prepared Guidelines for posting content in the feed. There are also three actions available via the three dots icon displayed next to user comments:
- Delete — delete your own comment.
- Block user — hide all comments added by a specific user.
- Report comment — flag a comment for the Roster team to review.
Sponsor
The app supports highlighting a competition sponsor via the SPONSOR tab. Through Roster's web admin, organisers can add sponsor details, including pictures, descriptions, and web links, so app users can easily view information about the sponsor or organisation. Sponsor information and highlights can also be shared through the competition FEED, with commentary, pictures, and videos.
The fantasy game
The fantasy game is available on the ROSTER tab and is a fun way for fans to engage with competitions. Players choose a team of athletes within a budget before the competition starts and score points based on the team's results.

Organisers can enable the Roster fantasy game for their competition through the Roster web admin and set the total team budget. The price of athletes is automatically calculated by Roster using an algorithm based on their past results.
Once the start lists are released, select one athlete per category — Sprint Female, Sprint Male, Distance Female, Distance Male, Jump Female, Jump Male, Throw Female, and Throw Male — staying within the allocated budget. You can also select a team captain who will score double points based on their result.
You can sort athletes by different parameters when selecting them for your team.
Points are scored based on the result placement in each category, as well as bonus points for WR, MR, PB, and SB. Points are not shown for events that have not yet been completed. See the Game Rules in the app for full details (three dots menu in the upper right corner when inside a competition).
To view the competition ranking, tap the bottom part of the ROSTER tab. The top 100 players and scores are listed. Once the competition is over, you can see each top 100 player's full team and athlete selections. Your own position and points are shown in the ranking view.
See the Fantasy Game FAQ for more information.
Live streaming
The app supports live streaming of competitions via professional HLS streams. These can be enabled by entering the stream links in the Roster web admin. If the organiser has the rights to stream the event, anyone can follow and watch the competition in the app.
YouTube Live streams appear in the FEED alongside other YouTube video links.

General app features and settings
On the main Competitions screen, tap the menu icon in the upper-left corner. You will see the following options:
- Competitions (default) - described above.
- News feed — described below.
- Athlete check-in — described below.
- Settings — described below.
- Invite — invite friends via your phone's messaging apps.
News feed
The app NEWS FEED is a general discussion chat between Roster Athletics and app users. Roster uses this feed to share news and information from the athletics and track and field world, including upcoming competitions, interesting stories and performances, pictures, and videos. App users can comment or ask questions to enhance the interactive experience.
Athlete Check-in
If the organiser of a competition has enabled participant self-check-in, you can confirm your event participation directly in the app. For more information, see the How to check in using the Roster Athletics mobile app guide.
Settings

Roster policies — Terms of service, Privacy policy, and Copyright policy are all available here.
Show fewer details in results — when enabled, start lists and results show only basic information: place, athlete name, and result. This setting can also be changed per event from the three dots menu in the event view.
Use imperial units (ft-in) — switch between metric and imperial measurement systems for displaying results.
Log out — logs you out of the current account.
Delete account — permanently removes your account from Roster. Note that deleting your account means you will no longer be able to manage registrations made through the same account on the Roster Athletics registration platform.
